Ford Maverick Lobo (2025)

Ford Maverick Lobo: A New Era of Street-Performance Trucks

Inspired by the lowered truck trend of the mid-1980s to early 2000s and Maverick owners who are already customizing their trucks for enhanced performance, the Ford Maverick Lobo is a fresh platform for modern street truck builds.

As the street-performance version of the Maverick, the Maverick Lobo delivers a unique model that retains the versatility and value the Maverick is known for. It joins the existing lineup, which includes the off-road-capable Maverick Tremorand the fuel-efficient Maverick Hybrid.

How the Maverick Lobo Concept Began

Ford Maverick designer Josh Blundo first saw the potential for a performance variant in 2019. He imagined a widebody, front splitter, wings, and custom wheels for the Maverick. His vision came to life at the 2021 SEMA Show in a custom build by Tucci Hot Rods, and the positive reception led Ford to greenlight the Maverick Lobo project.

Working closely with engineers like Keith Daugherty, Ford began fine-tuning the springs, suspension, and other performance components from existing Ford models to create an authentic, performance-driven truck.

Engineered for On-Road Performance

The Ford Maverick Lobo features a lowered ride height and a suspension designed for on-road performance. Equipped with a 2-liter EcoBoost engine, it has been rigorously tested to meet Built Ford Tough standards and is backed by a factory warranty.

Key performance features include:

  • Lowered Ride Height: 0.5 inches lower in the front and 1.12 inches in the rear.
  • Tuned Steering & Suspension: A performance-car feel with torque vectoring through a twin-clutch rear drive unit.
  • Enhanced Brakes: Dual-piston front brake calipers borrowed from the Focus ST.
  • Lobo Mode: A unique driving mode designed for closed-course performance, offering improved cornering, grip, and stability, similar to Mustang Track Mode.

Additionally, the cooling system has been upgraded with a larger radiator and fan from the Maverick’s 4K towing package, along with a transmission oil cooler to handle demanding driving conditions.

Bold Street Truck Design

The Maverick Lobo maintains the core aesthetics of the Maverick but with street-performance-inspired styling. It features:

  • Unique front styling with a black-painted roof and 19-inch black wheels.
  • Painted rear bumper and rocker moldings.
  • A bold interior design inspired by street art, featuring Grabber Blue and Electric Lime accent stitching, graffiti-inspired overprint on the seats, and the Lobo name embossed on the black driver and passenger seats.

This color combination reflects current streetwear trends, blending multiple colors harmoniously without needing to match perfectly.

Two Configurations for Easy Personalization

To make it simple for customers to customize their Maverick Lobo, Ford offers two configurations: standard and high.

  • Standard Configuration: Includes all key performance features, unique styling elements, and graffiti-inspired interior touches.
  • High Configuration: Adds luxury features like a heated steering wheel and seats, Ford Co-Pilot360 2.0, 360-degree camera, spray-in bedliner, moonroof, and Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, launching in early 2025.

Smart Trailer Technology: Pro Trailer Hitch Assist & Backup Assist

The Pro Trailer Hitch Assist system simplifies the trailer hitching process using rear cameras and corner radars to align the hitch with the trailer coupler, controlling the truck's speed, steering, and braking.

Once the trailer is hitched, Pro Trailer Backup Assist makes backing up as easy as turning a knob to direct the trailer while reversing into place.
