Porsche 911 Carrera GTS: A Revolutionary Upgrade to an Iconic Sports Car
Porsche has significantly upgraded the iconic 911, introducing the first-ever street-legal 911 Carrera GTS with a super-lightweight performance hybrid.
This innovative powertrain system, featuring a 3.6-liter engine, enhances driving performance, achieving 0-100 km/h in just 3.0 seconds and a top speed of 312 km/h. The 911 Carrera, with its refined 3.0-liter twin-turbo boxer engine, also launches alongside this model, delivering more power and efficiency than ever before.
With this relaunch, Porsche has modernized four of its six model lines in just a few months, including the Panamera, Taycan, Macan, and 911. According to Porsche CEO Oliver Blume, "Our product portfolio is younger than ever and highly attractive, offering our customers more customization options and exclusive experiences."
### Motorsport-Inspired Performance Hybrid
The 911 Carrera GTS models feature a hybrid system inspired by Porsche's motorsport expertise. This lightweight and powerful T-Hybrid system includes a newly developed electric exhaust gas turbocharger. The integrated electric motor accelerates the turbocharger instantly, providing immediate boost pressure and generating up to 11 kW (15 PS) of electric power from the exhaust flow. The system allows for a single turbocharger, enhancing dynamic and responsive power delivery.
The powertrain also incorporates a permanent magnet synchronous motor within the new, more robust eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (PDK). This motor supports the boxer engine with an additional 150 Nm of torque and up to 40 kW of power boost, optimizing performance while minimizing weight increase compared to traditional plug-in hybrids.

The heart of the T-Hybrid system is a newly developed 3.6-liter boxer engine with VarioCam camshaft control and a valve control system, delivering a combined output of 398 kW (541 PS) and 610 Nm of torque. This results in a 45 kW (61 PS) power increase over its predecessor, while keeping the weight increase to just 50 kilograms.
### Enhanced Design and Aerodynamics
The new 911 Carrera GTS features a refined exterior with model-specific bumpers and integrated matrix LED headlights that enhance both performance and aerodynamics. The front end includes active cooling air flaps and adaptive front diffusers, optimizing airflow for improved efficiency and cooling during high-performance driving.
Porsche offers optional HD matrix LED headlights with innovative functions like dynamic cornering light and pixel-precise high beams. The redesigned rear end features an integrated light strip, new rear grille design, and model-specific exhaust systems. An optional aero kit enhances performance with a unique front spoiler, side sills, and a fixed rear wing, reducing lift and improving grip.
### Fully Digital Cockpit and Advanced Connectivity
The 911's interior blends classic design with modern technology. A fully digital 12.6-inch curved display offers customizable views, including a Classic display inspired by traditional Porsche dials. The Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system, with a 10.9-inch central display, now includes enhanced driving mode customization, deeper Apple CarPlay® integration, and optional video streaming while parked.
### Pricing and Availability
The new Porsche 911 Carrera is available to order now, starting at €128,700 for the Coupé. The 911 Carrera GTS Coupé starts at €170,600, with an optional aero kit priced at €2,713.20. Deliveries will begin in late summer 2024 for the 911 Carrera, and later in the year for the 911 Carrera GTS.
