Genesis X Convertible Concept 2022

Genesis demonstrated its design versatility by unveiling the Genesis X Convertible concept in California. The brand hosted an intimate presentation where guests were amazed by the unexpected display of an open-top four-seat concept car.The location was a natural choice as California leads the way in terms of EV adoption in the United States and its temperate climate allows for year-round convertible enjoyment. “Genesis began its life producing sedans intended primarily for professional users. By creating a new, differentiated design DNA, we have gradually increased the emotional appeal and introduced this DNA into the SUV typology. Now, electric powertrains offer us the perfect backdrop to enjoy the great outdoors and have prompted the brand to create vehicles with even greater emotional resonance,” said creative director Luc Donckerwolke. The X Convertible concept line derives from the X Concept, a two-door Grand tourer that featured Genesis' Athletic Elegance design language. The X Speedium Coupé Concept, the second car in the trilogy, presented the athleticism of the Elegance brand in an even more progressive way. Also present is the evolution of the Genesis Crest Grille, which has transformed into a luminous signature denoting its electric propulsion system.

The Concept X Cabriolet takes the Concept X Speedium Coupé to the next exciting level. The culmination of a trilogy of concept cars, the Genesis X Convertible Concept embodies the design language of the Athletic Elegance brand in its purest form. The perfect proportions of the Concept X Convertible are complemented by the clarity of the design, exemplifying the continued refinement in the arrangement of the design elements that define Athletic Elegance. This is the hallmark of the Genesis brand. The Genesis X Convertible Concept shares the same architecture and electric powertrain as the 2021 X Concept and 2022 X Speedium Coupe. In combination with the foldable hardtop, which integrates sunroofs over the front passengers, it creates an open-air feeling even when closed. The architecture and guidance system provide the perfect stage to connect with nature and allow users to enjoy the surroundings in a new way, without mechanical distractions. The Genesis X Convertible Concept's long hood, generous wheelbase, short front overhang and long wheelbase are pulled back towards the long deck, emphasizing its dignified yet relaxed appearance. The parabolic anti-angle line underlines the regal character of the profile and creates tension between the solid surfaces through the slightly backwards inclined horizontal waistline, while the muscular bubbles around the wheels create an athletic "coke bottle"; viewed from above and blends into the elegant silhouette of the when viewed from the side. Quad headlight badge, from the Genesis # 039; The bilinear graphic identity is also derived from the X Cabriolet concept. Similar to the X Speedium Coupé concept, this graphic identity incorporates the new face of the electric vehicle and embodies the Crest grille. The powertrain and battery cooling function has been moved to the lower openings of the front bumper. The rear of the X Concept Cabrio features a concave elliptical ducktail traversed by four horizontal taillights, as seen on the X Concept and X Speedium Coupé. The continuity of the elliptical shape is broken and crowned by a V-shaped indentation that references the crest and wings of the Genesis logo. wheels are a combination of Genesis #039; G-Matrix model arranged by the concave section of the streamlined canopy. The spacers on this aerodynamic antenna are used to dissipate heat from the brakes. interior and exterior with Korean aesthetic nuances. The interior of the Concept X Convertible features an asymmetric, driver-centric four-seater layout, a recurring theme in the latest Genesis concept cars. Its wraparound dashboard blends seamlessly with the center console and wraps itself around the driver, underscoring not only its performance-oriented attributes but also its relationship with the driver. Partially inspired by traditional Korean roof architecture – a nod to the brand's origins and the most prominent aspect of convertibles – the interior design features Giwa Navy and Dancheong Orange, giving the interior a modern look that complements the car's dynamic character.

The base color of the interiors is Giwa Navy, named after "Giwa", the tile used in Korean houses. Crafted from recyclable wool, the textured woven graphics surround the cabin and contrast with the elegant, smooth leather surfaces of the seats.Meanwhile, Dancheong Orange -- named for the traditional decorative colors found in traditional Korean wooden buildings -- serves as a bold accent color that frames the cabin in a two-line pattern and is used in the seat stitching and fabrics. The exterior of the Genesis X Convertible Concept is painted Crane White. Whooping cranes represent nobility and holiness in Korea and the Genesis brand wanted to incorporate these cultural elements into their color palette. The result is an outer surface coated with pearly white particles that achieve a luxurious sheen that dynamically accentuates the contrasting interior. Genesis #039; Unsurpassed sensory experience The Concept X Cabriolet is an open-air cinema that offers all passengers an unrivaled sensory experience.Convertibles offer freedom of expression and a greater sensory experience thanks to the open roof that allows direct contact with the environment. The Genesis X Cabriolet Concept takes the sensory experience even further with an electric powertrain and a high-performance audio system developed by sound master Guk-il Yu. First seen on the Concept X Speedium Coupé, the immersive audio system has been specially designed designed to optimize acoustic performance. "It's a natural evolution of Genesis to reinforce the sporty and emotional aspect of our design philosophy by creating an emotional trilogy: the X-Family," said Luc Donckerwolke. “Innovation is a catalyst for greater engagement with the environment around us.We're growing Genesis into a company that provides customers with products they can enjoy. Genesis loves to adapt to what customers want in terms of their driving experiences and desires and will continue to explore new ways to create immersive driving experiences and spaces where they can connect with their vehicle and their surroundings.
