New technologies boost the performance of all SKYACTIV powertrains, and driving dynamics have been enhanced through increased body rigidity, steering and suspension system revisions, greater aerodynamic efficiency and reduced NVH. Safety has also been improved, the New Mazda6 offering an even wider range of driver support systems through the adoption of advanced i-ACTIVSENSE safety features such as Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go, and a 360° View Monitor.
EXTERIOR DESIGNA new frontal design adopts a more powerful, deeply sculpted look accentuating horizontality, a low center of gravity and a wider stance.

The grille mesh is positioned deeper within the surround, and the mesh design is a deeper, more intricate pattern of small blocks, strengthening the 3-D presentation of the front.
The new headlamps adopt a sleek, wide shape. LED turn signal form a line along the unit's upper length, and the signature lighting penetrates the projector to create a bolder expression when illuminated.
The fog lamps are now integrated within the headlamp units.
This allows for a more horizontal design to the front bumper corners, emphasising the vehicle's broad stance.

A new storage compartment beneath the rear center armrest features a pair of USB ports that let occupants charge portable devices.
A wiper de-icer function is now available.
Front and rear seat courtesy lamps contribute to greater convenience and safety.
Fine craftsmanship devoted to every detail aims to provide true Mazda premium quality.
SKYACTIV POWERTRAINSNew technologies introduced in the SKYACTIV-G 2.0 and SKYACTIV-G 2.5 gasoline engines, as well as the SKYACTIV-D 2.2 clean diesel engine.
Torque at low rpm boosted for faster throttle response from a standstill, and changes in acceleration in response to accelerator pedal action optimised.
SKYACTIV-D 2.2 (Fuel consumption: 5,4-4,4 l/100km, CO2 emissions: 142 - 117 g/km) adopts Rapid Multi-stage combustion. A new design for the egg-shaped pistons combines with ultra-high-response multi-hole piezo injectors to increase combustion efficiency.
Sodium-filled exhaust valves enhance heat transfer and coolant control valves improve engine warm-up efficiency for improved real-world fuel economy.
A new, urea Selective Catalytic Reductions (SCR) system significantly reduces NOx emissions.
A new two-stage, twin turbocharger with variable turbine geometry increases maximum output from 129 to 135 kW, and maximum torque from 420 to 445 Nm.
High precision DE Boost Control over torque response in reaction to accelerator pedal operation offers performance that more closely matches the driver's intentions.
Evolutions to both the Natural Sound Smoother and Natural Sound Frequency Control systems deliver an even quieter drive with a more pleasing engine note.
SKYACTIV-G 2.0 (Fuel consumption: 6,6-6,1 l/100km, CO2 emissions: 150 - 139 g/km) features new high-flow intake ports, increased fuel spray pressure and redesigned nozzles for the multi-hole injectors, a new piston and piston skirt barrel shape, a coolant control valve for improved engine warming efficiency and asymmetrical oil rings.
As a result, low-end torque is boosted by 6.2%, while the resulting efficiency gains mean emissions easily comply with the new WLTP / RDE test cycles, falling well under the particle number limits without needing a gasoline particle filter
SKYACTIV-G 2.5 (Fuel consumption: 6,8-6,7 l/100km, CO2 emissions: 156 - 153 g/km) features a high, 13.0:1 compression ratio, the reduced weight of an aluminium-alloy cylinder block and a balancer unit that reduces low frequency rattling. A new cylinder deactivation system reduces fuel consumption when driving at constant speeds between 40 and 80 km/h.
SKYACTIV-ChassisThe redesigned suspension system offers smoother, more linear vehicle behavior and elevates the quality of the ride. The front steering knuckles have been lowered for more neutral steering characteristics. The rear hub supports have been newly designed, and the mount position of the lower arm has been raised.
Front and rear stabilisers are now bonded to the mount bushings, and the way the load is applied to the front springs has been optimised, giving the suspension a smoother stroke.
Bump stop characteristics were revised to extend the range of the suspension's linear stroke, and rebound springs were added to the front dampers. The front dampers themselves have been increased in diameter from 32 to 35 mm.
A first for Mazda, a new urethane rear damper top mount lowers the spring rate characteristics. The result of these significant suspension enhancements is linear damping force in response to even small degrees of input, far more supple movement in the low G-force range, and significant smoother, more stable performance in the high G-force range.
To deliver more precise response to subtle steering wheel action when cornering or driving at high speeds, rigid mounts now attach the steering gear to the suspension cross-member.
This increases system rigidity to realise a more linear steering feel, while combining with the revised suspension to contribute to a neutral steering feel.
SKYACTIV-BODY Reinforcement in locations where body rigidity is likely to affect the comfort of cabin occupants, reducing the quantity of unwanted subtle vibrations and outside noise penetrating the cabin, while minimising increases in weight.
Improvement in NVH through thicker floor panels and rear wheel housing inner walls, reduction in body panel gaps and penetrations, the addition of vibration-absorbing material to the centre tunnel, and a change to the internal structure of the cabin ceiling. The result is a more refined cabin experience in which voices can be heard clearly throughout result in a significantly quieter environment.
A flatter underbody, new engine, centre floor lateral link and rear bumper undercovers streamline the flow of air passing under the floor.
Ducts introduced below where the fog lamps were previously located create a flow of air to the front tyres, improving aerodynamic performance and enhancing straight-line stability.
SKYACTIV-G 2.0 and 2.5 models fitted with an active air shutter. When the engine does not require cooling, the shutter located in front of the radiator closes automatically preventing air from entering. This enhances aerodynamic performance and improves real-world fuel efficiency.
SAFETY
A wider range of advanced i-ACTIVSENSE safety technologies help drivers identify potential risks and reduce the likelihood of damage or injury.
A 360° View Monitor is now available on the new Mazda6. It uses four cameras to display the car's periphery on the center display.
An updated Mazda Rader Cruise Control (MRCC) combines a millimetre-wave radar with a forward-sensing camera, reducing the minimum operating speed from 30 to 0 km/h. The system now works at all speeds and can follow the car in front even from a dead stop.
Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) is a speed-limiting system that works in conjunction with Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) to help prevent drivers from exceeding the speed limit unintentionally, or because they failed to notice a speed limit sign.
The performance of the Adaptive LED Headlights (ALH) has been improved. Each headlamps array of LEDs has been divided more finely into 20 blocks to realise finer control over the range and spread of light, and the high beams have been enhanced to illuminate 80 meters further ahead than the current model.
The new Mazda6 now adopts Mazda's auto-hold function, which continues to keep the car stopped momentarily even after the driver lifts his or her foot off the brake pedal.
An active bonnet designed to reduce the impact if the car hits a pedestrian is now standard equipment.
